Executive summary
· Objectives
The organisation of the INRNE
- JRC Conference - Informational Days has as a main goal:
improvement and development the
collaboration and integration of Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear
Energy (INRNE) with JRC Institutes and enhancement of the INRNE integration
in European Research Area (through advanced networking, exchange, training
and twinning arrangements).
Other objective is:
to bring people from different
nuclear science fields together and to combine efforts for monitoring and
modelling hazardous nuclide and heavy metal behaviour in the environment
- high mountain, marine ecosystems, uranium mining, thermal power plants
and generate recreation measures of contaminated areas to get a clean nature.
Specific objectives are:
measurements harmonisation, environmental
monitoring, nuclear safety and
safeguards, nuclear materials control,
neutron data measurement and evaluation.
· Actvities
Preparatory
work on definition of common fields of activities for INRNE and JRC
Organisation and realisation of INRNE – JRC Conference – Informational
Days
“Nuclear Science for Sustainable
Environment and Security”
Enhancement and deepening of existing co-operation and development of new
collaborations
· Major
Results and Applications
-
Direct contacts with leading scientists
and responsible persons from 5 of 7 Institutes of JRC
-
The present state of ongoing and
resent projects and collaborations have been discussed and 3 memorandums
for their further development were signed in the field of
- nuclear forensics and combating
illicit trafficking
- neutron investigations and data
measurements
- nuclear spent fuel investigations
-
The possibilities were discussed and
5 memorandums were signed for new collaborations based on JRC direct
action programme (direct contracts) and JRC indirect actions - in the field
of EURATOM programme and other FP6 activities:
- Environmental studies
- Neutron therapy
- Informational integration
-
Direct contacts with Institute of Environment
and Sustainability (IES) JRC have been realised and concrete topics, join
projects and activities were outlined (especially joining some of networks,
for example EURDEP network).
All these are in the full compliance
with the INRNE development priorities and JRC, ERA and FP6 policies.
· Problems
There are several management, administrative
and financial problems main of them connected with the very short time
for event organisation
· Recommendations
the
continuous monitoring of INRNE - JRC joint activities
an interim review of the progress achieved within 12 months
